back door

i am a back door hangouter.

that is, i loiter behind buildings, by the back entrance. i smoke there, eat there, watch people there, make fun of people there. and i like it even better if it’s an abandoned building.

there’s something about back doors that makes down time take the form of existentialism. they are hard-bitten, seasoned symbols of aloof self-sufficiency and practical disinterest. they take burly delivery-men and their bulky appliances, the caterers and their equally bulky centerpieces.

most of the back doors i’ve been hanging out in have people-oriented stray cats which the security guards would feed occasionally.

Or it’s just the only us smokers can get away from a cold, cold anti-smoking world… 😉
